“Cool, coastal, far from ordinary,” is the tag line locals use to describe their town of Port Royal. Port Royal is home to the Marine Corps’ Parris Island Recruit Depot where thousands of recruits get their initial military training. Als,o located in the area, is the US Naval Hospital of Beaufort.

A hugely popular event is the annual Blue Angels air show which takes place every April. Watching this spectacular show from a boat is a must if you happen to be in the area in April.

The Port Royal and Beaufort areas were home to a few movie filmings with the two most popular being Forrest Gump and The Big Chill. The area is also known for several festivals throughout the year – Beaufort Water Festival, Beaufort Oyster Festival, the original Gullah Festival, and more.
